Daniel J. Bowman
Police Service and Detector Dog Expert

Mr. Bowman is recognized as one of the country's foremost experts in the training and deployment of Police Service and Detector Dogs. He has been ruled qualified to offer opinion in the training, use, and deployment of Police Service Dogs, in federal, state and municipal courts.
Daniel J. Bowman is a retired Police Officer and Canine Handler with 34 years of expeience training police service and detector dogs. His knowledge and expertise has resulted in the placement of over four hundred (400) Police Service Dogs who have been deployed with Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies in the United States. He has presented on such topics as Starting and Administrating a Canine Unit, Canine Handling and Problem Solving, Integrating Canine Units with Tactical Teams, Search and Seizure, and Use of Force.
As a committee member, Bowman was instrumental in the development of a canine standard for the training and certification of police service dogs for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Bureau for Municipal Police. As a police officer, Bowman was certified by the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Bureau for Municipal Police, as a canine handler, trainer, and examiner of patrol, tracking and narcotic detector dogs. His training curriculum for the training of patrol, tracking, narcotic and explosive detection dogs has been certified by the Ohio Police Officer Training Commission.
Mr. Bowman has served as a consultant and expert witness in civil and criminal cases. He has been ruled qualified to offer opinion in the training, use, and deployment of police service dogs in federal, state and municipal court. He is available to review pertinent information and evidence in canine related cases for the purpose of rendering an unbiased opinion as to the facts and circumstances presented.
